Welcome to the 4th International Summer School on Immunogenetics Dear Colleagues, Dear Friends, EFI, together with the other international societies for histocompatibility and immunogenetics ASHI and ASEATTA, would like cordially invite you to participate in the 4 th International Summer School on Immunogenetics , to be held between September 6-9, 2007 in the beautiful city of Pécs (Hungary), Europe's future Capital of Culture in 2010. The aim of the summer school is to promote the field of immunogenetics via an intensive 4 day course covering a broad range of related topics in immunology, genetics, and response to immune challenge. The program will be in English and will emphasize interaction between participants and faculty. Introductory lectures will be followed by discussions of recent developments and student presentations of their own research. The faculty includes: Frank Christiansen (ASEATTA), Jim McCluskey (ASEATTA), Karen Nelson (ASHI), Deborah Crowe (ASHI), Cristina Navarette (EFI), Sophie Caillat-Zucman (EFI), Andras Falus (Hungary) Katalin Rajczy (EFI), and Frans Claas (EFI). Topics to be covered include immunogenetics of HLA and non-HLA genes, molecular typing strategies, structural and functional aspects of the MHC, population genetics, antigen presentation, NK cells and KIR genes, autoimmunity, host pathogen response, solid organ and bone marrow transplantation, HLA and infectious diseases. Participants will have the opportunity to present their own research data. The summer school will accept 25-30 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Applications : applications must include C.V., statement of motivation for attending, a letter of recommendation and a summary of current research project. A committee consisting of EFI, ASHI and ASEATTA delegates will review the applications and select the candidates.
Registration fee: 100 euro including lodging, meals and transportation by bus from Budapest to Pecs. Bursaries: Participants are to pay their own travel expenses to Budapest; a few travel bursaries will be available for a select group of participants who provide reasonable justification. The deadline for applications is July 15, 2007.
